Horsemanship and Riding Lessons

We ride horses for many reasons - for exercise, for companionship, for the opportunity to unplug and connect with a beautiful creature. But most of us learn to ride for the purest reason of all: IT’S FUN!

We provide comprehensive horseback riding lessons that build foundational knowledge. Our curriculum goes beyond just riding, focusing equally on essential horse care practices. Our programs teach proper handling and understanding of horse behavior needed to develop a partnership with the horse and a desire to continue riding and learning about horses.

At Painted Bay Farm we use a Learning Levels curriculum in our programs. The curriculum gives students clear, achievable milestones and allows instructors, students, and parents a way to measure achievement. Students will work with their instructor during their lessons on skills and will earn badges and/or ribbons as they progress through the levels.

We have ponies and horses available to teach all ages. Lessons are $40 per hour. We offer a variety of lesson programs:

*Horseback Riding lessons that focus on horsemanship and riding for ages 8 years old and up.

*A special Pony Pals horseback riding program for ages 4-7 years old using a play based, hands-on approach that is tailored to their age appropriate physical coordination and emotional maturity.

*A Horse Centered program for anyone who loves spending time working with and learning about horses but prefer not to ride.

We also have programs designed to meet the 4-H Horsemanship Goals, Boy Scout Horsemanship Merit Badge, Girl Scout Horseback Riding Badge, and Physical Education for Homeschooling Programs. Contact us to learn more about our programs for you and your child.
